Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Atul Bhatkhalkar has written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi demanding the dismissal of Mumbai Police Commissioner Param Bir Singh for allegedly “derailing and misleading” the investigation of Sushant Singh Rajput death case.

The copy of the letter has been sent to Union Home Minister Amit Shah as well. In the letter, Bhatkhalkar has accused the Mumbai Police Commissioner and DCP Mumbai Abhishek Trimukhe for causing “grave damage to interest of justice” while investigating the SSR death case.

The BJP leader has demanded PM Modi to invoke Article 311 (2) (b) & (c) of the Indian constitution to terminate the services of Singh and Trimukhe. Bhatkhalkar further said that Mumbai Police informed Supreme Court that their “inquiry” was merely in the nature of “inquest”.

Bhatkhalkar, however, says that the Mumbai Police went on to investigate and interrogate beyond the scope of inquest and claimed that an invisible force conveyed directions.

Mumbai Police had tried to suppress the case from the very beginning and did not lodge an FIR in the case for 65 days. Although Rhea Chakraborty is not a relative of Sushant, she was allowed to visit Cooper Hospital morgue, the letter read.

“Doctors were pressured by the Mumbai police to autopsy the body without a coronavirus test. Despite ED's demand, the Mumbai police did not provide evidence of laptops and mobiles,” Bhatkhalkar said.

Meanwhile, senior BJP leader Kirit Somaiya had earlier demanded the resignation of Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh in connection with the issue. He has also demanded an explanation from the Mumbai Police Commissioner and action against the investigating officers for “inaction”.
