Mumbai DCP Abhishek Trimukhe tests positive for coronavirus

As per reports, DCP Abhishek Trimukhe, who is investigating Sushant Singh Rajput's case with the CBI, started feeling unwell and has taken leave by submitting a medical report to the Commissionerate.

Mumbai's Deputy Commissioner of  Police (DCP), Abhishek Trimukhe, is one of the officers who has been questioning Bollywood actress Rhea Chakraborty with regards to Sushant Singh Rajput's death. However, as per recent reports, DCP Abhishek Trimukhe has tested positive for coronavirus and has been on leave for a few days.

According to the information received, DCP Trimukhe's family members have also tested positive for coronavirus. 

After Sushant's demise, he was in touch with Rhea Chakraborthy and had telephonic conversations several times with regards to the case. Amidst the controversy, several questions have been raised about the investigation conducted by DCP Trimukhe, and it is said that the CBI had also met the DCP, in recent times. He was appointed by the Mumbai Police to coordinate with the CBI in this case.

Sushant died by suicide on June 14, 2020, however, there have been no conclusions drawn with regards to the death. Initially, the case was being investigated by Bandra police, however, the case took a turn for the worse after Sushant's father K.K.Singh filed a case against Rhea Chakraborty with Bihar Police. Officials from Bihar visited Mumbai for investigation, however, they later accused the Mumbai police of not cooperating in this regard. Following this, the Bihar government submitted a letter demanding that the matter be handed over to the CBI and the apex court while hearing a petition filed by Rhea Chakraborty, directed the CBI to probe the matter. 

Meanwhile, on Friday, DCP Trimukhe started feeling unwell and it is learned that he has taken leave by submitting a medical report to the Commissionerate.

Over the last 24 hours, Maharashtra has received more than 14,000 coronavirus cases and 331 deaths. The state remains to be the most affected due to COVID-19 infection, with more than 7 lakh cases reported so far.
