The power outage continues for the second day, Wednesday morning, April 27, in Mumbai and neighbouring cities, MMR, which began on Tuesday, April 26.

According to latest reports, nine substations between Khar and Bandra have been affected due to a double cable fault in Khar this morning, April 27. Of which six substations were restored within an hour. The power outage started today at 4 am, reports stated.

Meanwhile, repairing work is underway for remaining three substations, said Adani Electricity Mumbai sources, adding that it will be restored in sometime.

On the other hand, several Navi Mumbai and Panvel citizens complained of electricity being cut off overnight on Tuesday, April 26.

Additionally, due to a 11 KV fault there was no power supply in the Mumbadevi area for around half an hour, today at 7 am. Parts of South Mumbai faced power outages as well.

Moreover, some parts of central Mumbai, along with suburbs like Bhandup and Mulund within the municipal limits of Mumbai, and the adjoining cities of Thane and Dombivili faced a power outage from around 10 am, as per various reports.

Earlier in the day, the Kalwa Padgha 400 KV transmission line tripped at nearly 10.15 am. Owing to this, power cuts were reportedly seen in parts of Mumbai. These, accounts claim, include the likes of Dadar, Mahim, Bandra, Santacruz and Mahalaxmi amongst other areas.

Amid the scorching summer heat, this has proved to be a major inconvenience to citizens. On the other hand, residents of certain areas of Thane and Dombivali also reportedly complained of power outages in their vicinity.

Based on narratives, due to the tripping of the transmission line, there has been a load relief of 210 MW from Thane and 45 MW at Mulund.

Mumbai generally does not face any mandatory power cuts as part of load shedding, but has faced troubles in the past, including a disruption that lasted up to 18 hours in October 2020.

Meanwhile, during his interaction with the media, the minister remarked that there was not any load shedding in the state in the last five to six days because of micro-level planning and the power deficit were at 15 per cent.
