In yet another setback, Mumbaikars will have to wait a year more to get a quicker ride to Pune.

This development comes as the crucial cable-stayed bridge in Tiger valley, which is aimed to reduce travel time between Mumbai-Pune, has faced delay. The deadline to complete this project was July 2024; however, it will not be ready for motorists as per slated schedule.

The bridge, which will offer half-an-hour reduction time, is most likely to be finish the works by March 2025. Though there is no change in the toll.

The project will also help save fuel which the motorists burn using the ghat section and ascent. Moreover, when the other linked projects are added to missing link , the travel time between Mumbai and Pune will reduce by almost 60 minutes.

It is being built as part of the INR 6,695 crore missing link project along Lonavala ghat section.

While other components of the project, two tunnels and another bridge are almost 90 per cent complete, the delay is attributed to COVID, monsoon wind and visibility create hurdles. Moreover, getting skilled workers to reach such a height and put cables there is also a difficult task.
