In last few days, many injuries and accidents were reported due to trees falling in Mumbai. Considering this, Mount Merry Resident’s Association with the help of a private agency carried out a survey of 190 trees where 49 trees were found infested.

The said association then tried trimming the dangerous trees but were stopped by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), informed Congress corporator Asif Zakaria.

On Saturday night, a 13-year-old girl died when a coconut tree fell on her in Dahisar. In the span of 24-hours, another tree fell in Dadar (W) where four people of the same family were injured. Another 20-year-old was injured as well when a tree fell on her where she suffered a back injury. She is now being treated at Hinduja Hospital.

Raut has demanded that the civic officials should bear her hospital expenses.

Meanwhile, Samajwadi Party corporator Raees Sheikh has demanded that the BMC should curate the information of trees which are on the verge of falling and should trim the same.
