Mumbai records second highest rains for November month in 10 years

On Monday, November 29, IMD had issued a "yellow" alert in Mumbai from November 30-December 2.

This year, November month recorded 30.1mm of rains which is the second-highest rainfall in a decade. In 2019 the highest rains (109.3 mm) were recorded for November month.

All the other years have seen less than 5mm of rainfall in November. According to the India Meteorological Department's (IMD) Santacruz observatory, the maximum rainfall of 24.7mm was recorded between November 21-22, of the 30.1mm rainfall recorded.

As per the IMD classification, this falls under the 'moderate' category. Officials have said that unseasonal rains will continue.

On Monday, November 29, IMD had issued a "yellow" alert in Mumbai from November 30-December 2. Apart from the city, IMD has issued an alert for Palghar, Thane, Pune, Raigad, Nashik and other districts.

The Met department has also forecast light to moderate rainfall activity in Maharashtra this week.

Due to the expected rains, IMD has issued a warning to fishermen for the next five days along the Maharastra and Goa coast.

Meanwhile, the minimum temperature in Mumbai on Monday rose by three degrees. On Tuesday, November 30, according to the IMD's Santacruz observatory, the minimum temperature was 23.8 degrees Celcius.
