In order to boost the Cruise Tourism Industry, Mumbai Port Trust has relentlessly put efforts for the last five years. Along with this, there has been a significant increase in the number of national and international cruises in the city. However, Mumbai Port Trust has stated that after the construction of the International Cruise Terminal, Mumbai will become the cruise capital of the country.

After the inauguration of the domestic cruise terminal, there has been an increase in the number of new cruise operators, out of which, majority of them were domestic operators. Previously, an 'Angriya' cruise had been started between Mumbai and Goa which currently provides service on alternate days.

Meanwhile, Mumbai is the leading city in terms of cruise tourism in the country. On the other hand, the city's contribution to the cruise tourism business exceeds more than 50 per cent. Based on these factors, Mumbai Port Trust has stated that by the end of 2025, Mumbai will consist of more than 1,000 cruises and will witness more than 10 lakh tourists every year.
