In the backdrop of a protest march to CIDCO Bhawan on June 24, the Navi Mumbai Traffic Police has announced a traffic diversion. The protest is organised by BJP, All-Party Action Committee (APAC) activists and local project affected persons (PAP) demanding that Navi Mumbai International airport be named after the late DB Patil.

While the Navi Mumbai Police has not permitted the protest march due to the coronavirus pandemic, the organisers have made claims that around one lakh agitators are expected to participate in the peaceful protest march.

Earlier, on June 10, thousands of villagers formed a human chain to put pressure on the state government to name the proposed Navi Mumbai International Airport after the late DB Patil.

All Heavy Motor Vehicles (HMV) and Light Motor Vehicles (LMV) travelling from Mumbai towards Pune will be diverted from Airoli toll plaza and travel along Mahape-Shilphata road to reach Kalamboli circle.

Vehicles coming from Pune will be diverted from Purusharth petrol pump at Kalamboli on Sion-Panvel highway to head towards Taloja MIDC, Roadpali and reach Airoli toll plaza via Mahape-Shilphata road to head towards Mumbai.

The stretch from Uran Phata road to Kharghar will be out of bounds while vehicles will be diverted from Bharati Vidyapeeth to Utsav Chowk in Kharghar to avoid touching the road leading to CIDCO Bhavan. Vehicles will not be allowed to go via Palm Beach Road and will be diverted from Arenja corner in Vashi to travel towards Mahape to reach Airoli toll plaza and enter Mumbai. Also, vehicles plying along Thane-Belapur road will be diverted via Mahape bridge to reach the Mumbra-Panvel highway.
