Maharashtra has bagged the top spot in the Swachh Survekshan Puraskar 2024-25 with four cities bagging the top honours. This once again underscored the state’s commitment towards urban cleanliness and civic engagement.
Navi Mumbai has once again secured the third position among the cleanest cities in India (after Indore and Surat). It also bagged the title of best city in terms of citizen opinion in the category with a population of more than 10 lakhs.
Municipal Commissioner Dr. Kailas Shinde and Maharashtra’s Minister of State for Urban Development Madhuri Misal received the award on behalf of the city. City Engineer Shirish Aradwad was also present on stage during the ceremony.
Under the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs' cleanliness rankings, 4 Cities in Maharashtra have been ranked.

The annual awards, which have become the benchmark for urban sanitation in India, saw Maharashtra emerge as a standout performer among thousands of contending cities.
In the citizen opinion category, Chandrapur won the best city award and made a mark in the 3-10 lakh population segment, while Latur was awarded for best solid waste management in the same category.
