Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has decided to fill 300 acres of land in Cuff Parade, Mumbai. Reacting to this, Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) has taken a strong stand against this decision and said that there will be huge protests if BMC goes ahead with its decision.

Mumbai NCP President Sachin Ahir expressed his strong disappointment against this decision and said that extending land by the sea will hamper the ecological balance and can destroy the future development. NCP will never support this, he asserted.

This project will be under Tata Consultancy firm and the BMC has kept this proposal before the standing committee. Therefore, NCP organised a protest at BM headquarters. Ahir said that BMC talks about protecting the environment but it plans to destroy the ecological balance with this project.

Ahire further informed that in this development plan, efforts are being made to remove the slums in Koliwada and this project will affect the traditional business of the fishermen. Thus, the NCP has registered its strong opposition against this proposal and has asked to cancel the same.

NCP group leader Rakhi Jadhav has also protested against the government in this regard.
