Nearly 97% Of Mumbai’s Adult Population Have Been Administered At Least One Jab, Says BMC Commissioner

On Sunday, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), commissioner, Iqbal Singh Chahal elaborated that nearly 97% of Mumbai’s 92.3 lakh adult population have been administered at least one of the COVID-19 vaccines, with 55% being completely inoculated, reported the Times of India. Chahal elucidated that the civic authority was looking to attain the entire 100% mark through the next three to four days. On the other hand, however, the narrative claimed that another official from the BMC claimed that attaining the 100% first vaccine threshold could take longer, probably till the end of October.

Similarly, the civic authority’s public health department has instructed every ward to undertake exhaustive mobile drives in the vicinity of housing societies, as well as, public places to increase the vaccination figure. The account quoted an officer saying that this is a last-mile difficulty and the majority of those who wanted to attain jabs have already been able to do so. Adding that the remaining who couldn’t, owing to distance or their busy schedule now have the opportunity to do so in their neighbourhood.

In other developments, on Sunday, the island city did not report any coronavirus fatalities for the first time since March 26, 2020, since the outbreak of the virus.
