On Wednesday, June 1, Maharashtra Health Minister, Rajesh Tope, while interacting with the media stated that there is no need to worry amid the rise in cases seen in the state. According to reports, Tope elaborated on how a rise in COVID-19 cases is seen in Mumbai, Pune and certain areas of Thane.
Tope added on how today there are 3,475 coronavirus cases of which nearly 2,500 cases are from Mumbai. He claims that from the 2,500 cases not one is admitted to the hospital. In light of these developments, he believes that there isn't any need to worry.

In addition to this, he urged all to take precautions and avoid leaving their homes unless necessary. During a press conference he reportedly added that the use of masks will be made compulsory.
In other developments, considering the surge in cases reported in Mumbai, Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) Commissioner, Iqbal Singh Chahal instructed the authorities to ramp up testing and vaccination. In addition to this, he also anticipates a rise in symptomatic cases owing to the approaching monsoon season, narratives mention.
From asking that testing be ramped up, expecting proactiveness from testing labs, he also prompted citizens to get vaccinated and asked that civic-run, private as well as jumbo hospital centres be prepared and equipped.
Similarly, recently, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister, Ajit Pawar had reportedly elucidated that if COVID-19 cases continue to surge in the state, they will have to consider imposing certain restrictions.
