India is all set to celebrate Independence Day on 15th August and for the same the security has already been beefed up- in various parts of the country including Delhi and Mumbai.

India is all set to celebrate Independence Day on 15th August and for the same the security has already been beefed up- in various parts of the country including Delhi and Mumbai. Intelligence agencies have warned that terrorist might take the sea route to target Mumbai. For the same, coastal security measures have been stepped up and the Indian Navy has assured that they are keeping a close tab on things.

Security in Mumbai was already on high alert following government's decision to revoke Article 370, which gave special status to Jammu and Kashmir. The diplomatic ties between India and Pakistan too are strained at the moment. At the time of revoking of Article 370, Prime Minister of Pakistan, Imran Khan too had warned that there is a possibility that attacks like Pulwama might reoccur or India may have to face a full pledge war with Pakistan.

Similar precautionary measures were also taken by the Indian Navy post the Pulwama attack. At that time, Aircraft carrier INS Vikramaditya, nuclear submarine Chakra, 60 ships and nearly 80 aircraft were put on operational deployment by the Indian Navy in the North Arabian Sea.

Airport Security Beefed up

There is also increased security at various airports. Bureau of Civial Aviation Society (BCAS), which is responsible for security at various airports have already put in place stringent security measures at various airports. Vehicles heading towards airport will be subjected to random and intensive security checks a km away.

Commuters have also been asked to report to airport three hours prior to their departure time.
