Five people drowned at the chowpatty in front of Hinduja Hospital on Monday around 4:30 pm. Harsh Kinjale (19) died in this accident. The youth Yash Ashok Kangra (18) is still missing and lifeguards called off the search operation on Monday night due to darkness and adverse weather conditions.


The accident took place on Monday when five youths went for a walk on the chowpatty in front of Hinduja Hospital. On hearing the news of the accident from the local police, the fire brigade personnel rushed to the spot. The lifeguards of the municipality succeeded in saving two of the five people after culminating their efforts.Two others who were injured were pulled out of the water and rushed to the nearby Hinduja Hospital for treatment. But Harsh Kinjale's health worsened and he died. The condition of Om Lodh (17) is stable and he is undergoing treatment at the hospital. The lifeguards of the Municipal Corporation are searching for the missing youth Yash Ashok Kangra till Monday night. Despite many attempts, he was not found. Finally, around eight in the night, the lifeguards stopped the search operation.

Injuries during Holi celebration 

  • 93 people were injured in various incidents in holi which was celebrated with enthusiasm in Mumbai. Most of the injured have been injured in fights during holi celebrations.

  • Out of 93 injured, 32 patients were admitted to the accident department of Sion Hospital. The founder of Sion Hospital informed that 31 people have been treated and discharged home, Mohan Joshi said. Most of the patients were injured in fighting or falling while playing holi.

  • 14 injured were reported in Nair Hospital during the day. Three of them were admitted to the hospital while the rest were treated in the outpatient department and sent home. Two patients were injured due to the use of chemical dyes while eight others were injured due to a fight among themselves, said Dr. Nair hospital founder Sudhir Medhekar.

  • 19 people were admitted to KEM Hospital. Four of them were admitted to the hospital. The founder of KEM Hospital said that the rest of the patients were treated in the outpatient department and discharged home, said Sangeeta Rawat. 

  • 18 people were admitted to the JJ hospital for treatment. The hospital informed that all of them have been treated and discharged home, said founder Dr. Pallavi Saple.
