The number of coronavirus cases in Maharashtra is increasing day by day and a similar pattern has been observed in the city of Mumbai. Officials at the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) are taking every step possible to ensure. they contain the spread of Coronavirus.

Amidst the tension, officials have received good news. On Saturday, June 20, 2020, only seven coronavirus cases were reported in the Dharavi slums taking the total tally to 2,158, out of which 1,057 patients have recovered. Further, it is said that no patients have died over the last few days. 

Once identified as a hotspot for Coronavirus spread in Mumbai, Dharavi slums posed a bigger challenge for the state government and the BMC. Officials ensured every step is monitored closely, where lakhs of citizens in the slums were screened. 

Back in March, Several questions by raised in regards to the spread of the virus in these slums. However, officials have successfully handled the situation thereby making Dharavi, a successful case study. 

So far 3,693 coronavirus cases have been identified in Mumbai G-North ward. The tally has reached 633 in Dadar and 902 in Mahim.

As of June 19, 2020, the total number of cases in Maharashtra was nearing 1,25,000 cases. Mumbai, on the other hand, has 64,139 cases, Thane has 9,337 cases and Navi Mumbai has 5,023 cases. Around 5,893 deaths have been reported so far and 62,773 patients have been discharged across the state.
