From July 9 to July 20, 2025, the Railway Protection Force (RPF) Borivali ran a 12-day special drive across Mumbai’s suburban railway line. A total of 1,637 offenders were caught during the operation. The goal was to control misuse of train coaches and ensure rules were followed.
The drive mainly focused on the busy Churchgate–Virar route. The operation was led by Assistant Sub-Inspector Dharmveer Singh and Sub-Inspector Santosh Soni.
A total of 1,393 people were caught during the regular enforcement campaign. These included unauthorised hawkers, eunuchs, and people travelling in coaches reserved for ladies and people with disabilities. Another 244 people were caught in a special raid on the Sayaji Nagari Express. Most of them were hawkers and eunuchs.
During the drive, 34 eunuchs were found inside non-AC local trains. They were travelling in violation of the rules. A total of 288 hawkers were also caught in non-AC coaches. In AC locals, the RPF found 66 eunuchs and 10 hawkers travelling without permission.
A total of 889 people were caught for misusing the coaches meant for people with disabilities. Another 80 were found in the ladies' coaches without authorisation. Fourteen people were caught trespassing on railway property.
The RPF also continued its child protection work during the campaign. Under the ‘Nanhe Farishte’ initiative, children found in unsafe conditions at railway stations were rescued.
Legal action was taken against each of the 1,637 offenders. Officials asked all passengers to follow the rules and respect reserved compartments. The RPF also said it will continue to carry out similar drives in the future.
