According to reports, over 70 per cent of Mumbai Police personnel have been vaccinated, while 92 per cent have received their first dose of vaccination for the coronavirus.
Moreover, the department has stepped up its effort to get the remaining 3,389 officials vaccinated. As per the latest figures shared by the Mumbai Police, 29,242 police persons have taken both doses which amounts to 70.13 per cent of the force.
Meanwhile, the ones who are yet to take their first jab are reportedly the ones who had either recently contracted the coronavirus or have other health issues. Moreover, the vaccine is not immediately advisable to women cops who are pregnant or have recently delivered.
Amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, Mumbai Police being the frontline workers witnessed several deaths due to the deadly disease. However, the numbers are on the decline now. At the moment, the force has 89 active cases whereas 8,931 police personnel have contracted the coronavirus so far.
On the other hand, the Mumbai Police Commissionerate recently instructed the concerned teams to install CCTV cameras at important and sensitive places in the city. However, some private establishments have not yet implemented the directive and urgent orders have been issued in this regard.
As per reports, the Police Commissionerate had asked private establishment to install CCTV cameras for security purposes, within the jurisdiction, and appealed that the same had to be implemented immediately. Information regarding the same was given by Deputy Commissioner of Police (Operations), S.Chaitanya, who added that the motive behind the decision was to make sure the CCTV footage captured is of use in police investigations which will further help in control and solving crime across Mumbai.
