Over 98% of the eligible population in the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) area has been administered their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, making it the foremost in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region, reported the Times of India.

In addition to this, 50% of those eligible have been administered both doses of the coronavirus vaccine. Based on the amended eligible population number assembled by the Maharashtra government, 11.1 lakh citizens in the city are required to be inoculated against the previous figure of 10.8 lakh, stated the report.

Contrasting this to Thane, 50.3% of the adult population have been administered their first jab. According to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), 91.6% have attained their first shot, but the figure is much higher at 94.6% on CoWin, highlighted the narrative.

Likewise, the NMMC has been conducting drives to attain the number of inoculating 100% of the population eligible with at least the first jab in the coming days. Officials from the NMMC elaborated that it has taken them considerable time to cross the 96% fist jab number to 97% because the number of beneficiaries increased due to the numbers revised by the state government, stated the account.

Abhijit Bangar, NMMC commissioner elucidated that recently the state sent the review report of those eligible for the vaccine, based on which the number increased by 27,000. He added that they are going closer to the 100% mark for the first doses for which they will hardly take a week.
