In recent developments, on Monday, March 22, former Police Commissioner Param Bir Singh took charge as the director-general (DG) of Maharashtra Home Guard.

After the Antilia bomb scare case, where an Innova car was witnessed with explosives on February 25 outside Mukesh Ambani’s house, Param Bir Singh was replaced as the Mumbai Commissioner because of some "unforgivable" lapses that had been revealed in the Mukesh Ambani security scare probe.

According to sources, the state government, fearing continual flak for the mishandling of the bomb scare case outside Ambani’s residence replaced Mumbai Police Commissioner Param Bir Singh with senior IPS officer Hemant Nagrale.

Meanwhile, on Monday, Singh demanded a CBI probe against Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh over corruption charges. According to reports, in his writ petition, the former Police Commissioner accused Deshmukh of interfering in various investigations and instructing the police officers to conduct probes in a particular manner as desired by him. Moreover, days after he was transferred, Singh wrote a letter to Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray alleging that the Home Minister had asked Vaze to collect INR 100 crores for him every month, However, these allegations have been rejected by Deshmukh.

Assistant Police Inspector Sachin Waze, who was initially investigating the high-profile case was later arrested by the National Investigation Agency (NIA). In addition, he has been suspended from the service. Waze was then transferred to the Citizen Facilitation Centre at the Mumbai Police Headquarters. He is currently in NIA custody and will be till March 25.
