In exchange for leasing their parking space, housing societies can earn by the revenue collected through parking. The civic authorities have further stated that this move will be a boon to high-density areas in Mumbai like Lower Parel, Bandra, Andheri etc.

However, the residents are not happy with the move as it can pose a serious threat to their security. As stated in Hindustan Times, Vinod Sampat of the Co-operative Societies Residents Welfare Association said that housing society spends lakhs of rupees in their security and maintenance and why would they even allow a stranger to come in?
