Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray has imposed a 15-day curfew till May 1, to break the chain of coronavirus in the state.

However, despite the imposition of Section 144, the majority of the people were found rushing for essentials and also seen travelling by train. Besides, many people are roaming around citing the reasons for buying essentials.

Therefore, Minister for Relief and Rehabilitation Vijay Wadettiwar has hinted at tightening the rules if people roam around without valid reason.

Speaking to the media in this regard, Vijay Vadettiwar said that while announcing the imposition of curfew Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray had appealed to the people not to leave their homes for unnecessary reasons. People still do not seem to understand the seriousness of the curfew.

The general public is allowed to use local trains if they have a valid reason to travel. The private vehicles can ply during the day time to work or office if their offices or workplaces are allowed to operate. The government has said travel by private vehicle is not allowed, barring valid reasons. People have also been advised to use public transport.

Wadettiwar said that to control the movement, the state government will have to impose curbs on the supply of fuel (petrol and diesel) to the general public. He also hinted at the complete closure of Mumbai locals for the general public.

Speaking about the same, he stated, "In the next two days, the Chief Minister himself will take a strict stand to save the lives of thousands of people if the people continue to behave in such an irresponsible manner. Even though people are allowed to travel, I appeal to the people not to leave their homes at all."
