Fuel prices hiked again; Petrol rates crosses ₹91 in Mumbai

Earlier, the oil companies increased the prices of both fuels January 6 and 7 after prices remained stable for 29 days. On January 6 and 7, the petrol price was 49 paise, while that of diesel's hiked by 51 paise.

The fuel prices hiked again on Wednesday, January 13, after five days due to which the rates of petrol in the commercial city of Mumbai crossed ₹91 per litre -- just 27 paise below the record price ₹91.34 on October 4, 2018.

As the petrol price in Mumbai has crossed ₹91-mark, the budget of Mumbaikars will collapse due to this. Today's petrol and diesel price hikes are said to be the highest in 25 months.

Earlier, the oil companies increased the prices of both fuels January 6 and 7 after prices remained stable for 29 days. On January 6 and 7, the petrol price was 49 paise, while that of diesel's hiked by 51 paise.

Meanwhile, the price of petrol and diesel in the capital increased by 25 paise per litre. After this, petrol reached a new record level of ₹84.45 in Delhi today. Diesel increased to ₹74.63 per litre. On January 7, the price of petrol in Delhi reached a record ₹84.20 per litre. Earlier on 4 October 2018, the price of petrol in the capital was at a record level of ₹84 per litre.

In the international market, a strong trend in the price of crude oil was noticed in the new year. The Organisation of the Oil Exporting Countries (OPEC) has agreed to continue production cuts in March as well, which has boosted prices.

  • Kolkata -  ₹85.92 per litre
  • Chennai - ₹87.18 per litre

Diesel rates

  • Delhi - ₹74.63 per litre
  • Mumbai - ₹81.34 per litre
  • Kolkata - ₹78.22 per litre
  • Chennai - ₹79.95 per litre
