According to latest reports, at least 15 shops were affected in a Level 3 fire broke out at one of the scrap godowns in Mumbai’s Mankhurd area. The incident took place at around 3.21 am on Friday, November 12 at Mandala scrap market godowns in Mankhurd around 3 am. The market is located on Veer Jijamata Bhonsle Marg in the eastern suburb of Mumbai.
However, after five hours of operations, the fire was doused at around 8.31 am. Though no casualties have been reported in the incident so far, but, there has been a huge financial loss.
A total of 12 fire engines, 10 tankers along with 150 firefighters were deployed for firefighting operation.
Meanwhile, the cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained.
In September as well, the market had reported an incident of fire. At that time the blaze was confined to seven to eight shops in the market, where different types of scrap material, including empty chemical drums, was stored.
Meanwhile, yesterday, November 11, a fire broke out in the basement of the 20-storey Kanakia Paris building in Mumbai's Bandra East at nearly 1.15 pm, stated a report by the PTI.
