According to the Women and Juvenile Crime Prevention Branch of the Maharashtra Police Department, 68.93 percent of the missing girls and 63.10 percent of the missing women have been found in the state till May 2023 this year.


Records of missing girls and women were reported in various police stations of the state. However, after the investigation conducted by the police administration, out of 29 thousand 807 women who went missing between January and August 2023, 19 thousand 89 women have returned home. Similarly, 5 thousand 495 girls who were kidnapped between January and August 2023 have been traced.

After registering the complaint of missing women and girls, the policemen of the concerned police station conduct an intensive search for the woman. The women were located and brought home using the necessary options for investigation. The state government is running various schemes for the empowerment of women. The state home department is conducting various activities for the safety of women. The Home Department is committed to the safety of women.
