On May 10, Maharashtra state government appointed Pravin Pardeshi as the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) Commissioner. Currently, Pardeshi is serving as the Additional Secretary for the Chief Minister Office.
The development comes after BMC Commissioner Ajoy Mehta was appointed as the new chief secretary to Maharashtra government. With the model code of conduct in the picture, sources informed that the Election Commission on Friday has cleared the appointment.
Earlier, Maharashtra Chief Secretary YPS Madan proposed voluntary retirement from the post. After which, Mehta was appointed as the new Chief Secretary.
There were talks about Manisha Mhaiskar's name being proposed for the Commissioner's post along with Pardeshi.
