Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) Commissioner Ajoy Mehta has been appointed as the new chief secretary to Maharashtra government. With the model code of conduct in the picture, sources informed that the Election Commission on Friday has cleared the appointment.

This happened after the Maharashtra Chief Secretary YPS Madan proposed voluntary retirement from the post. The appointment of Mehta for the chief secretary post has been initiated while keeping in mind the seniority.
