On Wednesday, in Mumbai, the price of diesel has risen to Rs 102.89/litre whilst that of petrol is Rs 112.11/litre. On the other hand, the price of diesel in Thane and Navi Mumbai crossed the Rs 103 threshold and this morning it was retailing at Rs 103.02 at the Indian Oil pumps, highlighted reports.

In addition to this, the prices of petrol reached an all-time high of Rs 112.24/litre. According to the report, the highest petrol price in Maharashtra at Parbhani has risen to Rs 114.64/litre. Similarly, Amravati has the foremost diesel price at Rs 104.43/litre.

The report quoted, Bal Malkit Singh of All India Motor Transport Congress who elaborated that the transporters are planning to call for a “chakka jam” nationally to voice their discontent against the rising diesel prices, the date for which may be announced soon.

Across the country, the prices of fuel differ state-wise owing to the local taxation as well as freight charges. Moreover, the union government charges an excise duty on fuels for auto. The OMCs adjust the prices of petrol and diesel every day according to the average price of the benchmark fuel in the international market in the previous 15 days and foreign exchange rates.
