As per reports, the state government has decreased the prices of the tests for the coronavirus. Now, samples collected at home will cost ₹2,000 whereas samples taken by laboratories has been priced at ₹1,200.

However, if a lab collects samples from a hospital or a COVID-19 care centre or a drive-through kiosk, the rate has been capped at ₹1,600.

The legislators of Maharashtra are to meet at the Vidhan Bhavan in Mumbai for a two-day monsoon session, which happens to be the first since the outbreak. On the second day of the two-day monsoon session of the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly, both Houses are said to ponder over a proposal put forth by the Uddhav Thackery government for additional budgetary grants worth ₹29,085 in a bid to battle the coronavirus.

The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) had earlier removed the cap of ₹4,500 for conducting coronavirus tests and had asked the states to “fix up mutually agreeable prices”. As a result, the RT-PCR tests for the coronavirus were earlier capped at ₹2,200 while the tests which collected samples from home had a sealing price of ₹2,800.

Meanwhile, Maharashtra has clocked 16,429 people testing positive for the novel coronavirus in the last 24 hours taking the COVID-19 tally in the state to 9,23,641. Moreover, in a bid to battle the coronavirus, the Maharashtra government has announced that it is to conduct statewide door-to-door campaign from September 15 in two phases.
