Mumbai Rains to continue without a break till Saturday

In the last few days, Mumbai city has been witnessing heavy rainfall. Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has declared that Mumbai and nearby areas will witness consistent rainfall till Saturday.

 
In the last 24 hours, Mumbai city recorded 26.73 mm, Eastern suburbs recorded 44.7 mm and Western suburbs recorded 42.21 mm of rainfall. Currently, areas such as Vasai-Virar, Thane, Kalyan, Dombivali, and Raigad are witnessing moderate rainfall.

Along with this, a 3.88 metre of high tide will be recorded around 4:30 pm and 1.78 metre of high tide will be recorded around 10:55 pm on July 5, 2018. Likewise, on July 6, around 5:12 am, a 3.23 metre of high tide will be recorded and a 1.97 metre of high tide will be recorded around 10:38 am.

Heavy rainfall is one of the reasons for the Gokhale bridge collapse. A part of it fell on the railway tracks injuring six people, of which Asmita Katkar is still in critical condition at Cooper Hospital. Along with this, local trains on Western Railway were affected and cracks were developed at Grant Road bridge. To add on to it, BEST's double-decker bus rammed into the railing at Santacruz.
