Rains in Mumbai cools the city and suburbs

IMD’s Colaba observatory recorded 1.8 mm of rainfall inn the 24 hours ending 8.30 am on Sunday, November 7. Meanwhile, the Santacruz observatory experienced only trace rainfall.

On Sunday, November 7, the maximum temperature in Mumbai was recorded below normal, as the city and its adjoining districts received light rain and thundershowers. The day temperature was 32.8 degrees Celsius which is a degree below normal. However, the maximum temperature in Mumbai is likely to increase in the next two days touching 36 degrees Celsius as per the seven-day forecast by the India Meteorological Department (IMD) weather bureau.

On Friday, November 5, as per the IMD's Santacruz observatory, the maximum temperature was recorded at 37 degrees Celsius before rainfall. Since November 2016 it was the second-highest maximum temperature.

On Friday evening, there was drizzling that started from parts of the island city. It continued over suburbs like Chembur, Goregaon.The neighbouring cities of Thane and Navi Mumbai also experienced drizzling. Mumbai witnessed rain due to a well-marked low-pressure area over the east-central Arabian Sea, said Dr. Jayanta Sarkar who is a scientist and head at IMD Mumbai. According to the reports, it is also predicted that the city is likely to witness rains in the next two days.
