Mumbai records an average rainfall of of 2,480 mm

Weather department has confirmed that areas in South Konkan, Goa, Central Maharashtra and Marathwada will experience torrential rainfall until September 4.

The city of Mumbai was lashed with torrential rainfall in the month of August, and as per reports released by the concerned department, the city received a total rainfall in Mumbai of 2,480 mm. This marks 99.65 per cent of the rainfall. However, rainfall has reduced in the city, and no showers have been witnessed in the last two days. Data released by the weather department showed that 0.0 mm of rain was recorded at the Santacruz Observatory in Colaba.

Meanwhile, Mumbai received 1 mm of rainfall, eastern suburbs received 0.0 mm and western suburbs received 0.1 mm in the last few days.

Despite no rains, parts of some buildings in Mumbai collapsed due to the dilapidated conditions. Recently, the plaster of a house in Sector J of Mankhurd collapsed on Wednesday night, where four people were injured in the incident. They were rushed to the Jupiter hospital, and three of them were released after receiving the necessary treatment. One boy has been admitted to the hospital and as per developments, his condition is now stable.

In another reported incident, a structure collapsed at four places in the city, where trees fell at three places, and a short circuit was reported due to the incident. 

Meanwhile, the weather department has confirmed that areas in South Konkan, Goa, Central Maharashtra and Marathwada will experience torrential rainfall until September 4. Forecast for central Maharashtra shows heavy rainfall on September 5 and 6, for certain regions. Condition in Mumbai will remain cloudy on Friday and Saturday, whereby light rainfall is possible.
