A couple of days back, Karishma Bhosale, a resident of Mumbai, had raised her voice against the volume of azaan in a mosque in Mankhurd. At that time, the Police under the Maha Vikas Aghadi government in Maharashtra had issued a notice to Karishma Bhosale and her mother for requesting the mosque authorities to lower the volume of the loudspeaker that blazed the azaan.

In a series of tweets, Karishma had expressed the ordeal she had to go through at the mosque on social media. She alleged that within minutes of visiting the mosque in order to ask them to lower the volume of the loudspeaker, scores of people gathered in the mosque, including men and women who entered into an altercation with her.

According to Karishma Bhosale, who lives in Mankhurd area, the mosque’s loudspeaker is located near her house. In recent developments, the Assistant Commissioner of M-East division of the Municipality has issued a public notice regarding the removal of the loudspeaker near the house. If the horn is not removed within the next 48 hours, it will be removed as per the provisions of the Municipal Corporation Act.

Karishma had earlier gone to the mosque in the eastern part of Mankhurd municipality and requested the locals to reduce the noise. That led to a literal argument between Karisma and the locals which further created a buzz on social media.

According to the Police, if she had any kind of complaint, she should have approached the police first instead of going directly to the mosque and requesting them to reduce the volume of loudspeakers as this gives birth to a law and order situation.

In that connection, the police have sent a notice to Karisma and her mother for non-compliance with the rules under Section 188. The police have said that they can register a case against her if the time comes.
