There are plans to beautify the Colaba and Kala Ghoda area. The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) will install basalt stones on the footpaths here, which will not deteriorate over the years. The BMC is going to spend about INR 6 crores on this. A municipal official said that the whole of Mumbai is being developed under the beautification scheme, but our special focus is on Colaba and surrounding areas. Because, a large number of local and foreign tourists come to this area.

The official further said that this stone is used abroad, especially in European countries. These stones are black and heavy. Along with the footpaths, these stones will also be installed on the roads around Kala Ghoda. Heritage lighting will also be installed around Kala Ghoda Art Avenue to enhance its beauty at night.
