Members of the ‘Save Trees’ association have pulled up their socks and are ready to take on MMRC over Metro-3. The association has brought back the ‘Chipko movement’ from 1973. MMRC have been swinging their axe on trees and the association can’t sit back calmly. The Supreme Court has lifted the stay on the Metro-3 project and MMRC resumed the cutting of trees. This action was carried out even during the nights.
Although the Supreme Court had asked for a committee to be formed, MMRC swung their axe before the committee came into existence. In order to protest against MMRC’s actions, ‘Save Trees’ association has gone back to the ‘Chipko movement’ and are hanging on to trees in order to save them.
