With increasing petrol and diesel prices along with payment of toll, the school buses might increase their fare. The School Buses Owners Association indicated that if the school buses are not exempted from paying toll then the fare of school buses will increase.

Currently, the school buses in suburban Mumbai have to pay toll at Mulund LBS Marg, Airoli, Dahisar and Vashi Toll Naka for around three to four times daily. Earlier, the toll collected by the government was around ₹60 but it was increased by ₹15 three months ago due to which the school buses are obliged to pay ₹17,400 every month.

In addition to the toll taxes, the increased petrol and diesel prices have contributed to the increase of school bus fare.

A meeting was held with regards to the issue by School Bus Owners Association in which it was revealed that due to the increase in the toll, the students may face an annually increased fare of around ₹400 to ₹500. The association proposed the government that if they won’t free the school buses from toll taxes, they would levy it from the students.
