Maharashtra Coronavirus Outbreak : Sharp decline in number of deaths

3,075 fresh COVID-19 cases reported in Maharashtra taking the caseload up to 18,55,34 while there is decline in number of deaths the state reported only 40 deaths.

Maharashtra reported 3,075 new COVID-19 cases, 7,345 recoveries and 40 deaths on Monday (December 7), taking the total number of cases in the state to 18,55,34. There are 75,767 active cases in the state and 17,30,715 patients have recovered so far. The death toll is at 47,774 in Maharashtra. The number of positive cases in the state is lowest since the past 20 days and there is a sharp decline in the number of deaths reported.

In total 1,13,18,721 people have been tested in Maharashtra. The states recovery rate is 93.28 per cent.

Mumbai reported 544 new COVID-19 cases, 1598 recoveries and 11 deaths on Sunday (December 6), taking the total number of cases in the financial capital to 2,86,590. According to Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) data, there are 12,065 active cases and 2,62,789 patients have completely recovered so far. The death toll is at 10,913 in the city. The recovery rate stands at 92 per cent. At present 19,98,764 tests have been conducted by the BMC. There are 471 contaminated zones in slums and chawls while 5,451 buildings are sealed by the BMC.

Meanwhile, India reported 26,567 new COVID-19 cases, 39,045 recoveries and 385 deaths in the last 24 hours, taking the tally up to 97,03,770 according to the data by the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Monday (December 7). While in total 91,78,946 have completely recovered. The death toll is at 1,40,958 in the country. At present, there are 3,83,866 active cases.
