Doctors practising medicine by obtaining fake degree certificates will be detected. Medical Education Minister Hasan Mushrif told during Question Hour in the Assembly today that a 'special campaign' will be launched to take action against such fake doctors.


Minister Mushrif said it is mandatory for students who have completed medical courses and obtained their degree to register with the Maharashtra Medical Commission. This registration is required to practise medicine in the state. Students obtaining medical certificates from abroad are required to register with both the Medical Council of India and the Maharashtra Medical Commission. It is also mandatory to do a one year internship in the medical field.

In 2022-23, 123 students in the country were traced through the Central Bureau of Investigation who had obtained fake degree certificates abroad. There are 3 students from the state. Action is being taken against him. The Central Government has changed the rules in this regard and students who have obtained a Medical Degree Certificate from China, New Zealand, Canada, USA, Australia, UK are not required to appear for the Central Government examination. However, students who have obtained degree certificates from other countries must appear for the examination. After that they can do medical business in the country.


There is a committee headed by the Collector, Municipal Corporation Commissioner to find doctors practising medicine with fake degree certificates and take action against them. Minister said that these committees will be instructed to find fake doctors and take action against them.
