The India Meteorological Department (IMD) today, June 14, has predicted strong winds and light rain for next 48 hours in Mumbai, Thane, Palghar, Nashik, Nandurbar districts.

In its five-day forecast released on Tuesday, June 13, IMD officials said light rain is very likely on all days, that is till June 17, but have ruled out the possibility of any intense showers.

The city witnessed strong winds during the day on June 14, and by evening, this was coupled with a sudden burst of rain in some areas, which brought down day temperatures significantly from 38.5 degrees that was recorded over the weekend. However, day temperatures continued to stay above normal.

On Tuesday, the IMD Santacruz observatory recorded a maximum temperature of 35.6 degrees, which was three degrees above normal, while the IMD Colaba observatory recorded a maximum temperature of 33.4 degrees, which was one degree above normal.

Monsoon is likely to advance in the next two days and will enter Mumbai around June 18.
