In recent developments, the Kalyan-Dombivali Municipal Corporation (KDMC) has launched an innovative initiative to keep an eye on garbage dumpers in order to keep the city clean.

On Wednesday, March 24, the civic body launched the initiative to monitor the area with the help of drones. According to sources, many citizens have been found littering the city at night. Moreover, the KDMC has also implemented various measures for cleanliness such as wet and dry waste sorting, garbage-free city, strict action against littering, the appointment of marshals at various places. However, some unscrupulous citizens add to the filth by throwing garbage in the open at night despite warnings.

The KDMC had earlier decided to take strict action against those throwing waste in the open space. The civic body has been running a zero-waste mission since May 25, 2020, in Kalyan-Dombivli. For this, the municipality has also created awareness among the citizens regarding waste management.

In addition, the civic body had scheduled two days in a week two collect the dry waste in the garbage vehicle plying in the various wards, near their area. The action has been taken against three citizens at Shil-Daighar road following the police case at the local police station. Many residents, however, are still found violating the rules and spotted throwing the waste in the open ground leading to unclean surroundings, in the midst of the pandemic.
