Many times, untoward incidents have also taken place resulting in the death of fire officials. In order to help fire officials, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) will be providing carbon fibre rod worth INR 2 lakh. The civic body will buy 35 such rods for 34 fire brigade centers.
These telescopic rods are made of carbon fibre and fibreglass which makes them light in weight and easy to handle.
The rod will be 16.56 metre long and electricity resistant as it is made of fibre. Also, one can adjust the rod as per the requirement. The price of this rod is INR 1,66,406 and it goes up to INR 2.13 lakh including GST. In total, the BMC will be spending INR 77.53 lakh on buying 35 rods.
Last year, a fire official lost his life while rescuing a crow who was entangled in an electric wire. This incident questioned the safety of fire officials.
