The Kharegaon Rail Over Bridge (ROB) is likely to be opened for commuters on Monday, December 20, after missing several deadlines. The Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC) officials have said that only 5 per cent of work is remaining on this bridge and is likely to be open for commuters soon.

On Thursday, November 25, a review meeting for the project was held between Kalwa MP, Shrikant Shinde, and TMC officials.

The construction of ROB is done jointly by the railways and TMC, and girder on the railway track of the East-West connecting ROB is laid by the Railways. The access roads are constructed by TMC.

An official from the municipal corporation said that the access road construction work is done with only painting, and electric work remaining. He said that due to technical reasons, there was a delay in constructing ROB. The issues are now solved, and it will be open soon.

The proposal of the ROB was done to shut the railway gate at Kharegao. The residents of Kalwa had to cross this to reach Kalwa Railway Station, which led to accidents. Not only this, but motorists also had to wait for a long time to cross the railway line.

Shinde further said that the remaining work would be fast-paced to make sure that the bridge is open for commuters by December 20.
