Thane mayor demands four member team to be present during the third-party audit of Bollywood theme project

The controversial Bollywood theme park project has caught the attention of Thane's mayor, Naresh Mhaske, who has now asked four corporators or people’s representatives to be present during the third-party audit of the project.

The move was taken after the corporators raised questions regarding the delay during the general body meeting of Thane Municipal Corporation. Talking about the same, Mhaske said that repeated questions were raised regarding the park, and he has asked members from for different parties to accompany during the third-party audit.

The ₹20-crore project began at Vartak Nagar in 2014 and is said to cover 4,000 sq m of area. However, corporators claim that there has been no progress in the construction for the last two years, but the local municipality has already paid ₹6.68 crore regarding one of the ideas of recreating film sets. Officials have also noticed that the contractor has  not returned the money to TMC.

Addressing the same, Shiv Sena corporator Dashrath Palande said that officials had decided not to spend more money on the project during Meenakshi Shinde's tenure as mayor, and the same amount to be used to construct a garden. Another corporator Vikas Repale stated that the body is spending money on the parks, but is not able to fund projects related to drainage management and the development of roads. Such question raised regarding the issue, sparked the conversation.

While Meenakshi Shinde stated that she had given instructions to recover the money, the city engineer, Ravindra Khadtale, defended by stating that the The work which was initiated upon Mayor's confirmation is nearing completion and the park would open soon for public.
