Thane Municipal Corporation planning to change colour of school uniforms

Along with starting English schools through the Municipal Corporation, emphasis is being laid on strengthening Marathi medium schools. As a part of it, the idea of making municipal schools uniform like private schools has been started. For this, a test has been started by the civic body regarding the colour of the uniform. 

At the municipal level, consideration is going on to keep uniforms of the same colour for primary and secondary schools. Due to this, there are signs of changing the uniform of municipal schools.

67 kindergartens, 117 primary and 22 secondary schools are run through Thane Municipal Corporation. A total of 35 thousand students are studying in these schools. Over the past few years, the number of students in municipal schools has started to decline. Parents are increasingly attracted to English schools.

Due to this, the municipality has started English medium schools. Also, the municipality has proposed to start CBSE schools in this year's budget and at the same time it has also proposed to start English medium schools.

Along with starting English schools, the municipality has emphasised on strengthening Marathi medium schools. Repairing and painting of school buildings, creating child-friendly classrooms, creating smart classrooms, digitising classrooms will be done. At the same time, the idea of making municipal schools uniform like private schools has been started. At the municipal level, consideration is going on to keep uniforms of the same color for primary and secondary schools. Also, what colour the uniform should be and whether the cloth is of good quality, the municipality is checking all of them, informed the municipal sources.

Uniform this year or next year? 

The administration has started thinking of changing the uniform of the students of Thane Municipal School. The municipality is testing the color of this uniform. However, there is a period of one and a half months left for the opening of municipal schools. Thane Municipal Commissioner Abhijit Bangar has already ordered the education department to provide uniforms and school materials to the students on time. Therefore, the civic body is also reviewing whether the uniforms of 35 thousand students can be prepared within a period of one and a half months.
