No administrative charges on overdue domestic water bills: TMC

The Thane Municipal Corporation has announced Abhay Yojana to completely waive administrative charges (penalty or interest) on overdue domestic water bills in Thane Municipal Corporation area. This Abhay Yojana will remain in effect till December 31, 2023, after which confiscation action will be taken along with disconnection of tap connections.

Domestic tap connection holders who submit their outstanding water bills to the Municipal Corporation during the period October 01, 2023 to December 31, 2023, together with the current year's bill, will be given 100 percent rebate on administrative charges (penalty or interest) levied on their outstanding water bills. This Abhay Yojana is not applicable to those who have collected domestic water supply charges prior to this policy. Also, the scheme is not applicable to those who have tap connection for commercial use.

The Thane Municipal Corporation has clarified that after the end of this Abhay Yojana, from January 01, 2024, the overdue bill holders who keep the outstanding amount pending will be disconnected from the water supply and confiscation action will be taken.
