Thane Municipal Commissioner Abhijit Bangar has asked the Public Works Department to redesign Kapurbawadi and Majiwada junctions to ensure proper traffic flow.
The movement of traffic on Kapurbawadi and Majiwada Junction is unplanned. In this area, the picture of vehicles coming and going in an open field is seen. Proper planning of lane marking, zebra crossing, traffic island design is needed to change, said Commissioner Bangar.
Authorised parking
Anti-social elements are rampant in the open spaces under the flyover at Kapurbawdi Naka, and Majiwada Naka where people are seen doing drugs. Some do unauthorised car parking as well. To prevent this, dirty, unsanitary areas will be cleared and controlled and authorised parking will be established. Tenders are being called for it. Along with the use of the place, the Municipal Corporation will also get income from it, Commissioner mentioned.
At the same time, tenders are also being invited for official parking at the Passport Office on Road No. 22 in Wagle Estate. There were complaints that unauthorised parking is done in this area and the same is charged. The municipality has filed a complaint with the police.
During the monsoons, the water that accumulates under the Vitawa bridge obstructs traffic. Therefore, the commissioner has asked TMC officials to check the place along with traffic police. Apart from that, he has asked to review the requirement of signal at Nitin Company Chowk.
