On July 1, amid heavy rainfall, a compound wall had collapsed in Pimpripada in Malad East which killed 29 people and left 120 injured. The wall was constructed in November 2017 and the locals alleged that the wall collapsed because of the flaw in the construction as not a single hole was made in the wall for the rainwater to pass and the heavy rainfall generated water pressure which led to its collapse.

The injured people had been admitted to various hospitals. On Tuesday, July 16 another person who has been identified as Abhijit Gade succumbed to his injuries at Nair Hospital with the death toll now being increased at 30.
