
The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned of major changes in the weather in the coming days. It has also been informed that the next 24 hours will be important for the state.
This development comes after Mumbai and its surrounding metropolitan region experienced notably warmer days, with intense afternoon heat leaving residents uncomfortable.
On Thursday, February 5, the maximum temperature in Santacruz reached 35.1 degrees Celsius, while Colaba recorded 33.8 degrees Celsius, according to observations from the Mumbai Regional Meteorological Department (RMC).
It is pertinent to note that Santacruz’s peak was 3.4 degrees above normal temperature, and Colaba’s was 3.3 degrees higher than average.
Meanwhile, the minimum temperature was recorded at 20.4 and 22.5 degrees Celsius on Friday morning, February 6.
In the broader Konkan belt, temperatures soared even higher. Dahanu posted the state’s highest maximum at 35.9 degrees Celsius—7.9 degrees above the seasonal average—making it the hottest spot recorded that day. Ratnagiri saw a maximum of 35.4 degrees Celsius, 2.4 degrees above normal.
Over the preceding 24 hours, the maximum temperature rose by 2.6 degrees at Colaba and by a striking 8 degrees at Dahanu.
The heat will increase in the afternoon, and the atmosphere is likely to remain dry till the evening. In Nashik district, the minimum temperature is also 18 degrees Celsius and the maximum temperature will be 31 degrees Celsius.
In Sambhajinagar, Jalna, Beed and Nanded districts of Marathwada, the temperature will also increase. The heat wave will also hit the citizens.
Meanwhile, in Vidarbha, the minimum temperature is likely to be 20 degrees Celsius and the maximum temperature can reach 32 to 35 degrees Celsius. The heat of the sun will be felt throughout the day and the atmosphere will remain mainly dry.
