Total number of recovered patients in Maharashtra crosses 10-lakh mark

Coronavirus cases in the state have seen a rise, however, amidst the stress, the state government has shared a piece of good news. Data released by the state health department showed that the number of patients recovering from coronavirus in Maharashtra has crossed the 10-lakh mark, as of September 26, 2020.

As of Friday, a total of 23,644 patients were cured and discharged and this took the total tally to 10,16,450 patients who have been treated with COVID19.

Over the last few days, the state government has noticed that the number of recovered patients has increased more than newly diagnosed patients in the state. The recovery rate in the state currently stands at 76.94 per cent.

Recollecting the cases from the past, the first coronavirus patient in Maharashtra was diagnosed on March 9, 2020, and until March 25, 2020, the state had two patients who had recovered from the infection. Over the next seven months, the number of patients receiving coronavirus treatment increased every day, and a large number of cases were discharged on a regular basis.

However, with an increasing number of cases in July, the recovery rate reached 50 per cent and the state also saw the number of discharged patients reach the 1-lakh lakh. With continuous efforts from the healthcare providers, the tally soon reached a few more lakhs in the next three weeks.

Below mentioned is the timeline of how the state reached the count of 1-million discharged COVID19 cases.

  • July 2 - 1 lakh - (1,01,172 patients cured)
  • July 25 - 2 lakh - (2,07,194 patients cured)
  • August 5 - 3 lakh - (3,05,521 patients cured)
  • August 14 - 4 lakh - (4,01,442 patients cured)
  • August 24 - 5 lakh - (5,02,490 patients cured)
  • September 3 - 6 lakh - (6,12,484 patients cured)
  • September 10 - 7 lakh - (7,00,715 patients cured)
  • September 17 - 8 lakh - (8,12,354 patients cured)
  • September 21 - 9 lakh - (9,16,348 patients cured)
  • September 26 - 10 lakh - (10,16,450 patients cured)

Meanwhile, the state recorded 20,419 new cases on Saturday, and with 430 COVID-19 deaths in a single day, the case fatality rate in the state stands at 2.66 per cent. Maharashtra has a total of 13,21,176 cases and 35,191 deaths.
