The Shree Siddhivinayak Ganapati Temple Trust has recently announced that it will sponsor the education of the children of Head Constable Sunil Kale of 182nd Battalion CRPF, who lost his life fighting bravely on June 23 during an operation in Pulwama, Jammu and Kashmir. Sunil Kale was from Solapur, Maharashtra.

On June 23, two terrorists who are believed to be a part of a terror group were gunned down by the security forces in Pulwama, Jammu and Kashmir. According to the police, the joint operation was launched by the Indian Army’s 55 Rashtriya Rifle, the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and the SoG Pulwama in Bundzoo area of south Kashmir’s Pulwama on classified information.

Vijay Kumar, Inspector-General of Police stated that the terrorists were given the opportunity to surrender. However, they refused, furthermore, firing upon the security personnel. This led to an encounter. In the battle against the forces, two terrorists were killed and their bodies were retrieved from the site of the encounter.

Meanwhile, during the encounter, Sunil Kale, from Maharashtra, received serious gunshot injuries and later on succumbed to his wounds and attained martyrdom.

In the past, the police had not been revealing the identities of terrorists killed in these small battles and were being buried away from their native villages. The Jammu and Kashmir Police has further asked the residents not to venture inside encounter zones due to the danger posed by stray explosive materials.

Recently, in another tussle, 20 Indian Army soldiers including Commanding Officer were martyred when a violent faceoff took place at the Galwan Valley between India and China. At the moment, both the countries have disengaged at LAC, while talks are ongoing via diplomatic channels and Army-level. According to US intelligence reports, the Chinese side has suffered 35 casualties including a Commanding officer, during the faceoff with India.
