The number of coronavirus cases in Mumbai has been increasing every day and the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has been facing a new challenge on a regular basis with regards to the coronavirus outbreak.

On Tuesday, June 23, another new challenge has raised concerns for the municipal officials, as more than 70 patients who tested positive for coronavirus, have gone missing from Mumbai's P-Ward comprising of several areas in Malad. This locality was recently marked as a new spot for Coronavirus cases and the BMC has reached out to the police seeking help to begin searching these patients.

BMC officials have submitted the phone number, address and other details of these people concerned. These details - name, mobile numbers, Aadhar card number - were noted during the tests and the same have been handed over to the police officials which would help in tracing the patients using their mobile numbers. Once found, patients shall be taken back to the hospital for treatment after counselling.

Authorities confirm that as per the information received, officers may start the search by tracing the phones with IMEI number - a technique often used during a crime investigation. It is also said that the process may take a few days.

However, it is suspected that some patients might have left the city and some phones are switched off too. There could be a possibility that some patients may have died, due to health reasons.
